OVER HONG KONG xx When it opened, New Town Plaza (1984) in Shatin was the biggest shopping mall in the New Territories and it is still, today, one of the largest and busiest in the city. SHKP was one of the earliest developers to invest in malls and this is also the first example of the Group’s concept of integrated development, providing for the needs of the whole community. In 1986, New Town Plaza received the honour of a visit by Queen Elizabeth II during her tour of Hong Kong and the centre picture shows the then-Chairman, Mr Kwok Tak Seng, welcoming Her Majesty.
