In the Mid-Autumn Festival this year, the company organized various activities to spread care and warm blessings to people in need in the community.
Creating a traditional gigantic rabbit crafted lantern to share festive joy
Many young people have moved from the suburbs to city, while many elderly remain in their homes in the suburbs. Therefore, the SHKP Volunteer Team recently collaborated with The Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council – Tuen Mun / Yuen Long Rural Village Centre and launched a 'Make a friend, Connect with suburban' initiative to provide community networking support for elderly singletons and couples living in Hung Shui Kiu village and squatter areas. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, the volunteer team distributed festival goodie bags and created a traditional gigantic rabbit crafted lantern under the instruction of a tutor to bring festive joy to the elderly people of the community, who were excited and took photos with the gigantic rabbit lantern when they received goodie bags at the community centre.
The volunteer team also visited Pak Tin Estate and presented goodie bags to express their care and blessings to the elderly amid the pandemic.
Presenting goodie bags to underprivileged families through the Building Homes with Heart Caring Initiative
Before the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Building Homes with Heart Caring Initiative distributed 3,000 Mid-Autumn goodie bags to underprivileged families in Wan Chai and Sha Tin. The goodie bags contained festive food, anti-pandemic kits and stationery packs, especially to cheer up children returning to school.
