Established 20 years ago, the SHKP Volunteer Team has adhered to the belief in Building Homes with Heart and has leveraged its corporate expertise to provide appropriate assistance to individuals in need, such as helping singleton elderly and two-elder families affected by redevelopment move into their new homes. With the 'beneficiary becomes volunteer' ideal, the volunteer team encourages the beneficiaries to participate in charity work to help people in need and give back to society. The team also initiated the Community Volunteer Partnership programme, in which they encourage students and residents in the neighbourhood to become volunteers and nurture them by offering professional skills training, thus enhancing cohesiveness, creating a positive vibe and fostering the spirit of mutual assistance in the community.

Helping people with disabilities enjoy stargazing
The warm-hearted volunteer team also engaged in the Stargaze Camp for All and the Blind, co-organized by the Hong Kong Network for the Promotion of Inclusive Society. The outdoor event enabled people with hearing or sight impairment, or intellectual or physical disabilities to overcome barriers and enjoy the beauty of nature and the starry sky. With a professional braille star map, tactile moon graphics and special telescopes, the volunteers provided narratives about the stars to help the participants create their own imaginary starry sky, exemplifying the virtues of inclusivity and mutual respect. The volunteer team also designed and operated the highly popular Low-carbon Living Earth Loving Game Booth to promote a green lifestyle.
