Occupancy of Sun Hung Kai Centre, the company headquarters, still remains high today even though the building was completed 35 years ago. The reason behind is the company's commitment to keeping up with the times and teamwork dedicated to satisfying the needs of the times and tenants.
Sun Hung Kai Centre only had 46 floors when it was first completed, and it was not until 1991 that the number of floors was increased to 53. The addition was considered a pioneering act as no one before had ever added storeys to a Hong Kong commercial building at that time after it was occupied.
Sun Hung Kai Centre received Excellent ranking in the Hong Kong Building Environmental Assessment Method (HK BEAM) in 1999, and has had the Excellent Class of the Indoor Air Quality Certificate from the Environmental Protection Department since 2007. The electrical and ventilation systems were upgraded in 2005, and the past ten years have produced very encouraging energy saving efficiency!
Sun Hung Kai Centre was the first Hong Kong commercial building to use double-decker lifts for higher capacity
The company constantly upgrades the building's security system. It began using digital video recording in 1998, and has used web cameras that can be installed anywhere in recent years for better image quality and the elimination of security blind points that used to exist in the past.
