The SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation is committed to supporting the country's poverty-alleviation initiatives. Through establishing different scholarship and support programmes, it helps outstanding students from disadvantaged families pursue undergraduate studies. Every year, the Foundation receives many letters of gratitude from beneficiary universities and students, including Guizhou University, which has collaborated with the Foundation for over 16 years.
Guizhou used to be the province with the highest rate of poverty in the country. Since late last year, 66 underprivileged counties of the province have been raised from poverty. The SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation set up a scholarship programme with Guizhou University in 2004. For the programme, the Foundation has donated nearly RMB13 million and benefitted more than 2,000 students to date. The university recently sent a letter of gratitude to the Foundation for helping to move Guizhou out of poverty.
