Our Chinese New Year activities this year were stunted by the continuing virus outbreak. In view of this, SHKP sent Chinese New Year greetings across the community through alternative ways, distributing gift bags and organizing online activities to spread a festive mood among the elderly.

10,000 gift bags

The Building Homes with Heart Caring Initiative distributed 10,000 Chinese New Year gift bags to the elderly through several charity organizations this year. Recipients included singleton elderly and senior couples residing in Kowloon City, Yau Tsim Mong, North District and Tai Po.

Interactive online activities

Through the Redevelopment of Pak Tin Estate – Neighbourhood Support Programme, SHKP volunteers provided moving services and basic renovation work for the elderly affected by the redevelopment of Pak Tin Estate. Under the new normal amid the pandemic, the volunteers adopted contactless methods established last year to spread festive cheer to the elderly.
