The country launched a fight against poverty in 2015 with the aim of freeing the rural poor from worrying about food and clothing, while providing access to compulsory education, basic medical services and safe housing within the following five years. Through the concerted efforts by people throughout the country, absolute poverty was eradicated in 2020, representing a huge step towards building a moderately prosperous society in all respects. The SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation has actively supported the country's call, and has sponsored and participated in more than 70 charity projects since its establishment in 2002. With a flexible and pragmatic approach, focusing on education and training, poverty alleviation, and medical and social services, the Foundation has benefitted over 60,000 people across more than 25 provinces and cities in the country so far. Recently, a local media organization held a large exhibition to recognize Hong Kong and Macao enterprises and compatriots for their valuable contribution to the country's fight against poverty. SHKP was presented with a certificate of appreciation, affirming the accomplishments of both the company and the SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation in helping to alleviate poverty over the years.
