Attending the blessing and ground-breaking ceremony of United Court earlier were Chief Executive Carrie Lam (centre), SHKP Chairman and Managing Director Raymond Kwok (fourth from right), SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation Director Thomas Kwok (second from left), SHKP Executive Director Adam Kwok (second from right), Secretary for Transport and Housing Frank Chan (third from right), New Territories Heung Yee Kuk Chairman Kenneth Lau (first from left), Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council Board of Directors Chairman Dr Donald Li (third from left), Archbishop and Primate of the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui the Most Revd Andrew Chan (fourth from left), and Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council Director Dr Jane Lee

To help cope with the housing scarcity and improve the living conditions of the underprivileged, and in support of the government's housing policy, SHKP lent a conveniently located plot of land in Tung Tau, Yuen Long, to the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council to build the United Court transitional housing project, for a nominal rent of HK$1. After completion in 2022, United Court, which spans 250,000 square feet, will provide 1,800 units, and be operated by the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council. The project will ultimately benefit about 5,000 low-income families and 10,000 people.
