The SHKP Reading Club recently held two community events, marking the perfect end to Read to Dream 2021, which lasted for one and a half months. In collaboration with the Tai Po Youths Association, the SHKP Reading Club adapted a drama from 'Welcome to Your Next Life' by Hong Kong writer Zita Law and invited celebrities including TV artist Kelvin Yuen, stage actress Mandy Ng and Kento To from the King Maker, and so forth. After the show, a talkback featuring the book theme was held with over 100 primary and secondary school students, and a book crossing was held for students to read good books together.
The SHKP Reading Club joined hands with The Federation of New Territories Youth Foundation, taking 20 youths from grassroots families to Tai O. In the tour, they learned about the rarely known fishing village and how to make local specialities duck egg yolks and cha guo from villagers.
This year, in addition to offline events, Read to Dream made special use of the Read For More online reading platform, broadcasting videos featured by celebrities and student ambassadors, and as usual, providing over 1,000 primary and secondary school students who took part with an allowance to buy books and get free admission tickets to the Hong Kong Book Fair, where they can buy their preferred extracurricular reading materials.
