Sanfield upholds the SHKP belief in Building Homes with Heart and caring for those in need in society. It showed support and sponsored the recent Construction Industry Lo Pan Rice Campaign under the Construction Industry Sports & Volunteering Programme. The Sanfield volunteers showed their care by distributing free Lo Pan Rice to the singleton elderly, unemployed and low-income families in Kwai Chung. On the event day, Sanfield gave out over 100 lunch boxes and food goodie bags, sending their warmest blessings to the community. In the next few months, Sanfield will participate in a series of rice distribution voluntary events, benefitting more people in society.
Origins of Lo Pan Rice
Lo Pan Rice, also known as 'chef rice', originates from the tradition of the construction industry to distribute meals to the community on Lo Pan Patron's Day, which is June 13th in the lunar calendar. In the old days, people from both rich and poor families queued up for Lo Pan Rice for their children, in the hope that their children would be as versatile as Lo Pan. Nowadays, distributing Lo Pan Rice has become an important voluntary activity in the construction industry to give back to society. Apart from Lo Pan Patron's Day, Sanfield gives out Lo Pan Rice to disadvantaged groups in major festivals.
In recent years, Sanfield has actively taken part in the Construction Industry Sports & Volunteering Programme, which was established in 2016 by the Construction Industry Council to encourage industry practitioners' participation in sports programmes and volunteer services to pursue a healthy lifestyle, as well as giving back to the community and bringing positive vibes to Hong Kong.
