This year marks the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland. To celebrate this memorable moment, many organizations have organized various events and activities. Sponsored by the Sun Hung Kai Properties Charitable Fund and others, "Better Than Ever—Art Exhibition by Renowned Artists in Celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s Return to the Motherland" was launched to display the beauty of Chinese art and bless Hong Kong with a bright future. The exhibition features about 70 classic paintings and calligraphy works, providing the public with an opportunity to appreciate the masterpieces by over 20 Chinese painting masters, including Qi Baishi, Lin Fengmian, Fu Baoshi and Pan Tianshou.
The exhibition also displays the works of masters and young Chinese artists in the mainland and Hong Kong, which illustrate their observations and imagination about the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and bless the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.
In the recent opening ceremony of the exhibition, John Lee, the Chief Executive of the HKSAR, was invited to make a video speech. He praised the exhibition for presenting a journey of rich Chinese culture and arts to Hong Kong citizens, and fostering Hong Kong's development into an East-meets-West Centre for International Cultural Exchange. The guests attending the opening ceremony included Regina Ip, Convenor of the Executive Council; Wang Kaibo, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Publicity, Cultural and Sports Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR ; Mao Chaofeng, Chairman of Bauhinia Culture Group Co., Ltd., which is the host of the art exhibition; Wen Hongwu, General Manager of Bauhinia Culture Group Co., Ltd.; Tu Huilong, Chairman of the Hong Kong Culture Association; Raymond Kwok, SHKP Chairman and Managing Director; and Betty Fung, Chief Executive Officer of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority.
The exhibition venue is located at Sky100, which is the highest indoor observatory deck in Hong Kong. To ensure that the significant exhibition event runs smoothly, the Sky100 team adopted meticulous venue management measures, including light, temperature and humidity control in the venue, a 24-hour security patrol, and crowd management. From 3 to 13 July, registered participants are eligible to attend the exhibition for free.
