SHKP celebrates Tuen Ng Festival with the elderly and underprivileged families

05.07.2023

During the Tuen Ng Festival, SHKP volunteers visited underprivileged families and the elderly to express festive blessings and celebrate the festival together.

Building Homes with Heart Caring Initiative shares the joy with underprivileged families

The Building Homes with Heart Caring Initiative is committed to caring for vulnerable members of the community. Recently, it distributed Tuen Ng Festival gift bags to 2,500 underprivileged families in Kowloon City, Yau Tsim Mong and North District. The SHKP Volunteer Team also collaborated with the Queen’s Hill Lutheran Integrated Service Centre to organize a carnival to celebrate the Tuen Ng Festival. About 300 children and their parents attended the event and engaged in various interesting booth games. They received a festive goodie bag containing Tuen Ng rice dumplings, food and a stationery pack, and everyone had a fun and wonderful time.

Volunteers brave a rainstorm to show their care for the elderly

Over the past few years, the SHKP Volunteer Team has supported the elderly affected by the redevelopment of Pak Tin Estate during the relocation and pandemic period, thus developing a close relationship. To celebrate the Tuen Ng Festival, despite the hoisted red rainstorm warning, over 70 SHKP volunteers braved rain and wind and visited singleton elderly and two-elder families with festive goodie bags to show their care. The elderly were delighted and enjoyed socializing with them.
