The SHKP Reading Club recently hosted a talk on reading at the sky100 Hong Kong Observation Deck. There former President of the HKSAR Legislative Council Jasper Tsang, 'Hong Kong's gifted scholar' Chip Tsao, and renowned author Ong Yi-hing shared their ideas on happy reading with 600 high schoolers, post-secondary students and working youths all set amidst a pleasant atmosphere.
Jasper Tsang suggested that everyone fosters a reading habit according to their own personal interests while Chip Tsao encouraged the youths to keep abreast of current affairs and develop independent critical analysis capabilities through reading. In addition, Tsao advised the students in attendance to use printed publications as their major source for reading and consider online reading as a supplemental medium. As host of the talk, Ong Yi-hing also interacted with the young participants to help spark their interest in reading.
