Before the arrival of the Children's Day on 1 June, the Beijing APM volunteer team paid a visit to the Beijing Underage Rescue and Protection Centre to celebrate the upcoming special day with the children there. The centre primarily takes care of homeless children, children of Beijing prisoners, and rescued children with disabilities.

Young toddlers stay in the children's room, which is supervised by professionals, while older children live in the male and female dormitories. Apart from a canteen and a library, there are also a basketball court and a playground with a running track. The comprehensive facilities at the protection centre give the children the warmth of a home.

Most of the children have no idea when their birthday is, so the centre designates Children's Day on 1 June as everyone’s birthday. Their contented smiles while eating birthday cake helped me understand how simple happiness is.

Before we left, we made a deal with the children that we would soon take them to Beijing APM for a movie and burgers. Though they are not with their parents, the children are not lonely because the community is full of love. Participating in this volunteer activity made me truly feel the depth of the company's corporate culture. I will definitely participate in more volunteer work in the future to spread the love!
