Invited by the Hong Kong Blind Sports Federation, the SHKP Volunteer Team recently helped roll out the Light Up Sports Programme. After receiving training from professional cycling coaches, the volunteers became escorts and pilots to go tandem cycling with the visually impaired.

The volunteers said the very challenging activity required a strong team spirit. The escorts, who led the troop, stayed cautious all the way and kept their bikes from getting too close to each other; the pilots rode in the front seat and communicated closely with their visually impaired partners, displaying physical fitness and excellent cycling skills. The volunteers found the experience completely worthwhile seeing their visually impaired partners enjoying cycling so much.
