The eight winning books of the sixth Young Writers' Debut Competition will appear at the Hong Kong Book Fair in July and on the shelves of major bookstores. The competition saw a feast of imagination and hope for the future as authors shed light on topics from personal growth and city life to conservation. Stay updated with the Club - there will be book discounts for SHKP colleagues and sessions where winners share their creative experience to offer inspiration. Read to Dream will again sponsor underprivileged children to visit the Book Fair in its 10th year, with book allowances and celebrities offering different views on reading.
A number of recent Reading Club events proved popular, including an encouraging talk by Hong Kong Humanity Award recipient So Kam-mui and school workshops with popular cartoonist Chao Yat. The Club co-organizes the 20th New Concept national writing competition for the first time with a mainland youth literary magazine. Many past winners have become literary stars and the competition is expected to produce more writers with promise.
