SHKP's Building Homes with Heart Caring Initiative volunteers celebrate Chinese New Year with the elderly 04.03.2024 As part of SHKP's Building Homes with Heart Caring Initiative, the SHKP volunteers recently visited the elderly in various districts and distributed goodie bags to bring a sense of joy during the Chinese New Year festivities. Expressing festive blessings to the elderly through music SHKP's Building Homes with Heart Caring Initiative volunteers visited the elderly in Sham Shui Po and Kwai Tsing. Students and their parents under the "Music and the Team" Intergenerational Programme, who received grants and took ukulele lessons for a few months, joined the visits and gave lively music performances. Presenting handmade gifts to express care for the elderly residents in rural areas The SHKP Volunteer Team launched the "Make a Friend, Connect with Suburban" programme a few years ago to support the elderly residing in rural areas. During the Chinese New Year, the SHKP Volunteer Team's community volunteer partners delivered festive gift bags to the elderly residents living in Yuen Long Hung Shui Kiu. The gift bags contained scarves hand-knitted by the SHKP volunteers and adorable brick dragon models, spreading warmth and festive cheer.

SHKP again sponsors the Community Chest Corporate Challenge 20.02.2024 After a three-year hiatus because of the pandemic, the Community Chest Corporate Challenge recently returned and was held in Sai Kung Pak Tam Chung around the High Island Reservoir. The event attracted about 800 runners from over 100 corporate teams to participate in the half marathon and the 10k run. SHKP again sponsored the event and more than 300 colleagues participated in the race to demonstrate the Sports for Charity spirit together. Despite the drizzle, the participants strived to set their personal best. SHKP's Royal Plaza Hotel, the food and beverage sponsor of the event, provided the runners with light food and drinks after the race. All donations raised from the event, amounting to about HK$4.5 million, will support rehabilitation and aftercare services subsidised by the Community Chest.

ICC launches the WEEE recycling programme to foster sustainable development 08.02.2024 SHKP is committed to achieving its ESG goals in various businesses. The property management team of International Commerce Centre (ICC) recently collaborated with the Caritas Computer Workshop to launch the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) recycling programme. This programme focuses on recycling electronic products that are discarded by tenants during relocations or appliance upgrades, with the ultimate aim of reducing the environmental impact associated with such waste. ICC donated over 700 computer monitors collected from tenants to the Caritas Computer Workshop, which delivered them to people in need in the community. By giving the computer products to the underprivileged, the programme helps the tenants address their electronic waste problem and effectively extends the lifespan of the products while helping those less fortunate.

The volunteer team receives recognition in the Hong Kong Volunteer Award 2023 again for its contribution to creating a caring and inclusive society 30.01.2024 Established 20 years ago, the SHKP Volunteer Team has adhered to the belief in Building Homes with Heart and has leveraged its corporate expertise to provide appropriate assistance to individuals in need, such as helping singleton elderly and two-elder families affected by redevelopment move into their new homes. With the 'beneficiary becomes volunteer' ideal, the volunteer team encourages the beneficiaries to participate in charity work to help people in need and give back to society. The team also initiated the Community Volunteer Partnership programme, in which they encourage students and residents in the neighbourhood to become volunteers and nurture them by offering professional skills training, thus enhancing cohesiveness, creating a positive vibe and fostering the spirit of mutual assistance in the community. The outdoor event enabled people with hearing or sight impairment, or intellectual or physical disabilities to overcome barriers and enjoy the beauty of nature and the starry sky. With a professional braille star map, tactile moon graphics and special telescopes, the volunteers provided narratives about the stars to help the participants create their own imaginary starry sky, exemplifying the virtues of inclusivity and mutual respect. The volunteer team also designed and operated the highly popular Low-carbon Living Earth Loving Game Booth to promote a green lifestyle.

SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation meets with representatives of various universities 31.01.2024 The SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation (the Foundation) is committed to cultivate talent for the country by building close ties with various universities. Recently, SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation Executive Director Amy Kwok met with a delegation from Peking University, led by Prof Ning Qi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the university. During the meeting, Ms Kwok said Peking University offers a diverse range of subjects and encouraged the beneficiary students to “travel more, see more and learn more” to broaden their horizons. The Foundation representatives also paid a visit to Peking University, Tongji University and Fudan University in Shanghai to exchange views with university representatives on educational support, and looked forward to expanding their partnerships as well as exploring more approaches to help nurture more high-calibre talent.

SHKP co-organizes Hong Chi Climbathon 2023 to demonstrate the spirit of Sports for Charity 22.11.2023 Co-organized by SHKP, the Hong Chi Climbathon 2023 was recently held in Central Plaza with physical races. Three SHKP colleagues teamed up with two Hong Chi students to take part in the 75-Floor Relay Run, and four SHKP colleagues participated in the 29-Floor Individual Run. The company also sponsored the brand new Sun Hung Kai Properties Family Run Best Costume Award to encourage the participants to wear special, interesting costume for the race. In addition, the company recognized the top fund-raising teams and individuals through the Sun Hung Kai Properties Top Fund Raiser Award, demonstrating the spirit of Sports for Charity together.

SHKP athletes clinch the championship of the UNICEF Charity Run 13.11.2023 Many SHKP running enthusiasts demonstrate the spirit of Sports for Charity by attending various competitions on behalf of the company. Since 2015, SHKP has supported and participated in the UNICEF Charity Run. Recently, five SHKP colleagues teamed up to participate in the Men’s 15km Corporate Relay. Their exceptional performance of 55 minutes, 56 seconds earned them the championship. This year marks the comeback of the physical UNICEF Charity run after a hiatus since 2018, attracting many running enthusiasts. The iconic charity run this year was dedicated to achieving United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being. The proceeds from the event will contribute to global efforts in areas of health, nutrition, water and hygiene, and other children's rights-related initiatives, creating a brighter future for children in need.

Mentoring teenagers and striving to create a bright future 13.11.2023 SHKP stands by young people by supporting the government-initiated Strive and Rise Programme. This year, the company nominated about 250 colleagues to become "mentors" in the one-year programme, supporting the growth of the mentees by helping them discover their interests and potential and formulate a personal development plan. Tam Chi-seng (CS) of Construction Department is the mentor of Ka Fung, a junior secondary student. CS is a genuine and cheerful person. As most young people tend to be timid during puberty, CS initiated interaction with Ka Fung and took him to visit various places and attend different activities in his leisure time. They developed a trusting relationship, and Ka Fung shared his dream of becoming a chef. To help his mentee pursue his aspiration, with the assistance of the Internal Affairs Department, CS arranged for Ka Fung to visit the kitchen at company headquarters to learn about what a chef does. Sunny and Ah Wa, who are responsible for Chinese and Western cuisine, respectively, shared their work experience and stories and put on a cooking demonstration. Ka Fung was impressed and recorded the demonstration for future reference. CS believed that Ka Fung will come across various work opportunities when he grows up. Through this experience, he hoped that Ka Fung could enhance his knowledge about working as a chef and enrich his life experience. CS also told Ka Fung that many seniors, like the mentors and other SHKP colleagues, are passionate about supporting young people and helping them map out their future. Ka Fung's mother expressed her gratitude to the company and CS for their care and effort for Ka Fung.

The 2023 Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclothon made a successful comeback in late October with major international races 06.11.2023 Over 400 SHKP colleagues take part in Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclothon The Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclothon, for which SHKP is the title and charity sponsor, recently concluded successfully. Providing seven rides and races, the international mega cycling event this year attracted about 5,000 cyclists and featured the return of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) 1.1 Road Race, which was paused during the pandemic, bringing an exhilarating vibe to the competition. About 5,000 riders and over 400 SHKP cycling enthusiasts participate in the Cyclothon In recent years, SHKP has been dedicated to supporting cycling development. SHKP Executive Director Adam Kwok said they encouraged more people to take part in cycling through a three-pronged approach – promoting cycling in the community, supporting elite cyclists, and contributing to Hong Kong's position as a centre for major cycling events. As an international major sports event in Hong Kong, the Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclothon is a testament to Hong Kong's unique position as a global city with strong connections to the Greater Bay Area. To encourage the public to participate, the Cyclothon featured the popular 50km and 30km rides, as well as Men's and Women's Opens, which allowed elite riders from various Greater Bay Area cities to compete. After achieving remarkable results at the Hangzhou Asian Games with one silver and one bronze medal, The SHKP Supernova Cycling Team, sponsored by SHKP, continued their exceptional performance by attaining the top three positions in both the Men's and Women's Opens. The highlight event, the UCI 1.1 Road Race, made its return after a pause during the pandemic, attracting nearly 100 professional riders on 14 teams from Australia, Italy, Malaysia, Thailand, the mainland and Hong Kong. After the thrilling 100km race, a rider from Team Jayco AlUla, a renowned cycling team from Australia, clinched the championship. SHKP fully supported the Cyclothon, with over 400 colleagues taking part. In addition, SHKP sponsored 50 young people and underprivileged families to enjoy participating in the Cyclothon, including 11 families in the transitional housing project United Court, by taking part in the Cyclothon’s Family Fun Ride. In keeping with the spirit of Sports for Charity, the donations generated in the Cyclothon will support medical services for the underprivileged through The Community Chest of Hong Kong. Inviting international professional riders to take a warm-up ride with young Hong Kong cyclists To provide young cyclists from the SHKP Supernova Cycling Team and the SHKP Cycling Academy with an opportunity to interact with international professional riders, SHKP Executive Director Adam Kwok invited Team Jayco AlUla riders to take a warm-up ride with young local cyclists along Castle Peak Road. The young cyclists took this valuable chance to exchange experience with the world-class cyclists.
