SHKP colleagues often express their endless love and care for people in need in the community. By joining the SHKP Volunteer Team, our colleagues support the elderly and provide guidance to children to foster their growth.
Enhancing the living conditions of the elderly
With the loss of their self-care ability, some of the elderly have difficulty maintaining their homes, resulting in potential safety hazards and hygiene problems. The SHKP Volunteer Team collaborated with The Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council to organize a one-year programme, called "Elderly Home Safety and Environment Improvement Project", through which the team leveraged their professional construction and property management skills to enhance the living condition of the elderly in Tuen Mun and Wong Tai Sin District. The programme offered various types of support, including home safety assessment, minor home maintenance service, and subsidized pest control services, to help the elderly residents eradicate insects and bed bugs in their homes. The volunteers recently visited the elderly residents and carried out home enhancement work.
Facilitating inter-generational inclusion through music learning
To foster social inclusion and harmony, the volunteer team again collaborated with The Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council to organize the "Music and the Team" Intergenerational Program at Pak Tin Estate, which subsidized students, the elderly and volunteers to learn how to play the ukulele, a small four-string Hawaiian guitar, with the goal of fostering inter-generational inclusion. The parents of the students attended the festival caring activities and visited the elderly residents in the neighbourhood to strengthen their relationship. After completing the ukulele course, the participants formed a musical band and performed in volunteer activities. The programme helped the participants bolster their self-confidence and express their blessings through music performances.

The Hong Kong International Track Cup 2023, which was sponsored by the company, recently concluded successfully. The SHKP Supernova Cycling Team, sponsored and fully supported by SHKP, won two gold, three silver and six bronze medals in the competition. These remarkable results reflect the tremendous efforts of the cyclists, as well as SHKP's continued commitment to fostering cycling development.
A pyramid approach to developing cycling sports
SHKP is dedicated to promoting Sports for Charity. In recent years, SHKP has actively promoted cycling to encourage more young people to engage in cycling to improve their physical fitness and wellness. SHKP Executive Director Adam Kwok said: "SHKP pays close attention to the development of local cycling sports. Through a three-pronged approach – promoting cycling in the community, supporting elite cyclists, and helping promote Hong Kong as a centre for major cycling events – SHKP has contributed to cycling sports in Hong Kong and enhanced the strength of Hong Kong cyclists, helping them get good results in international races and win glory for the city."
Promoting cycling in schools
Established in 2018, the SHKP Cycling Academy helped equip over 20 schools with cycling training facilities and organized cycling promotional activities for more than 6,000 students to allow underprivileged students to experience the sport. About 600 students have received cycling training, and more than 150 students obtained the Track Pass after receiving training.
Supporting promising young elite cyclists
The SHKP Supernova Cycling Team, sponsored by SHKP, identifies young cycling talent who aspire to become professional cyclists and provides them with professional training to help them become the members of the Hong Kong Cycling Team or overseas professional cycling teams. Twelve of the team members have been selected as members of the Hong Kong Cycling Team or the Hong Kong Youth Cycling Team. Two team members have been invited by the overseas cycling team to receive training, and one of them signed a contract and became a full-time cyclist, embarking successfully on a professional cyclist career.
Promoting Hong Kong as a centre for major cycling events
SHKP promotes Hong Kong as a centre for major cycling events to introduce top-notch international races to Hong Kong. In addition to sponsoring the Hong Kong International Track Cup, which is classified as a Class 1 race by Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), SHKP introduced the Hammer Series, a famous cycling race in Europe, and invited 11 UCI World Tour Teams to compete in the SHKP Hong Kong Cyclothon, which is title and charity sponsored by SHKP. The races allow the public to enjoy the thrilling competition among world-class cyclists, thus fostering cycling development in the community.
