SHKP is committed to promoting healthy and sustainable living. Through the SHKP Love Nature Campaign, the company recently mobilized over 100 teachers, students and volunteers to participate in a Nature Rescue clean-up event at Shui Hau on Lantau Island.
About 150kg of waste collected to protect nature
Located on south Lantau Island, Shui Hau comprises vast mangroves and mud flats, offering a habitat for a wide variety of coastal species, including the horseshoe crab, which is known as a marine living fossil. To protect our precious natural resources, SHKP Executive Director Christopher Kwok and over 100 teachers, students and volunteers from various organizations, including Tung Chung Catholic School, the Hong Kong Hiking Association, China, the Agency for Volunteer Service, FRIENDS OF KMB and the SHKP Volunteer Team, joined the clean-up event at Shui Hau. The participants collected about 150kg of waste and recyclables in the one-hour event.
Encouraging the public to initiate clean-up events through the Nature Rescue mobile app
With the city's return to normal, the SHKP Love Nature Campaign will strengthen its collaboration with various groups this year, including enterprises, consumers, students and non-profit organizations. To foster and promote sustainable development, the campaign aims to organize several clean-up activities monthly and a large-scale clean-up event in a form of carnival annually.
The Nature Rescue mobile app, which has recorded over 33,000 downloads to date, collaborated with The Point, SHKP's integrated shopping mall loyalty programme, to introduce a reward programme last year. People who report rubbish blackspots, initiate clean-ups or participate in such activities through the mobile app can earn The Point bonus points. The initiative has attracted more young consumers to actively support terrestrial and coastal clean-ups, fostering sustainable development in society.
