Spending points as cash under the Point Dollar programme
In addition to redeeming points accumulated from spending at The Point for various privileges and offers, members can now use its mobile app to convert points to Point Dollar, which can be used directly as cash (Every 250 points can be used as HK$1 Point Dollar; at least HK$10 Point Dollar must be converted, with no maximum cap). Converting and using Point Dollar is easy. Just key in the amount to be converted in the mobile app prior to every transaction. A QR code will be issued that can be used for payment within a limited time, offering convenience for dining, shopping and leisure. 25 SHKP malls and over 1,700 merchants currently accept Point Dollar, and more merchants are expected to successively join the programme, providing members with greater choices, convenience and pleasure when shopping at SHKP malls.

As Hong Kong makes strides towards becoming a 'smart city', with new technology being gradually integrated into people’s daily lives, SHKP has introduced innovative technological applications in its diverse businesses. For example, in early 2019, the company launched The Point by SHKP integrated loyalty programme (The Point), coupled with its dedicated SHKP Malls App, to usher in a brand-new leisure and shopping concept. In order to continuously enhance the user experience, the Group’s Leasing Department – Retail Marketing and Customer Relations, and Digital and Technology Department have collaborated to add new features to The Point, offering its over one million members an array of exciting privileges and caring services.
Processing bonus points with artificial intelligence
The Point has leveraged artificial intelligence (AI) to process bonus points to provide increased convenience for customers. Previously, receipts uploaded by members required manual verification, which took several days for approval and redemption for bonus points. Following the adoption of AI, nearly 70% of the receipts can be approved immediately with bonus points simultaneously added to members’ accounts. Customers can use the points right away to enjoy more exclusive offers and a more fulfilling shopping experience.

Injecting new green elements into a residential estate Wonderland Villas wins two awards
Wonderland Villas, which was completed in 1984, received the Gold Award in the Property Management (Residential) category at the 2020 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence, and Ms Chan Sau Man, Senior Clubhouse & PR Manager, was commended as one of five Outstanding Green Achievers in Hong Kong. To promote environmental protection in a residential estate of nearly 40 years old, in addition to upgrading its soft and hard assets, the greatest challenge is how to convey green concepts to the residents. Chan said that in the past 10 years, she and her team have actively promoted environmental protection works such as food waste recycling and waste reduction in Wonderland Villas, sharing their experience with over 150 residential estates, school sponsoring bodies and social welfare organizations, and introducing the green technology in the Greater Bay Area. Amid the pandemic, the team even invited colleagues, residents and domestic helpers to serve as 'Green Living KOLs', producing environmental protection videos in different languages, which both the residents and colleagues enjoyed.
Promoting green living to households YOHO Midtown wins the Gold Award after winning the Silver Award last year
YOHO Midtown also successfully won the Gold Award in the Property Management (Residential) category, after winning the Silver Award last year, in recognition of the creative ways its property management team used to promote environmental protection. The team set up three theme zones in the Apollo ECO PARK of the residential estate, namely Butterfly Valley, Green Midtown and Apollo Organic Farm, to promote green living. The team also installed energy-saving facilities, organized various recycling activities, and even set up an online short-video channel to share environmental protection messages with residents and the public in a relaxing atmosphere, which was well received by residents.
V city receives the Gold Award in the Property Management (Commercial & Industrial) category
V city, which won the Gold Award in the Property Management (Commercial & Industrial) category, continues to work hard to achieve sustainable development. It made use of the latest Big Data Chiller Plant Energy Management Platform to actively implement energy saving and emissions reduction. The mall uses the Internet of Things (IoT) and big data analysis to increase the energy efficiency of its facilities. The mall has also launched the Organic and Reducing Plastics scheme. It does not only invite restaurant merchants to take part in the food waste collection program, but also provides tenants with reusable discarded wood panels as temporary fences during renovations. With these recycling and environmental protection initiatives, the mall actively conveys green message to residents and the community in an all-round way.
Sanfield's joint-venture company wins the Gold Award in the Construction Industry category
To reduce resource consumption and environmental nuisance during construction, Sanfield and its joint-venture company, Gammon, have actively taken various measures in The Sai Sha Road Widening Works and All Associated Facilities and Services for The Comprehensive Development at Shap Sz Heung, such as installing solar panels. The electricity generated is sufficient for the use of the office buildings on site, and the surplus electricity can be sold to the power company. With the introduction of various new technology, the joint-venture company also successfully transplanted a giant intertwined tree, achieving a balance between development and conservation.

V Walk introduces smart energy measures
29.10.2021
Saving energy and reducing carbon emissions is a topic of global concern. Figures show that buildings consume 90% of Hong Kong's electricity, mainly for central air conditioning. V Walk, located at Nam Cheong station, is committed to saving energy and recently introduced new technologies to greatly reduce the electricity consumption in its air conditioning system. SHKP News has recently done an interview with the property management team of V Walk to learn about the smart measures to save energy.
Q: Can you share with us some of V Walk's energy saving measures?
A: A number of renewable energy facilities have been installed in the mall, such as solar panels in the rooftop garden and on the cover of the footbridge. Our team has also taken steps to reduce the consumption of energy, water and paper, and to increase the recycling rate. We further introduced a Building Management System (BMS) to increase energy efficiency by optimising the performance of power electromechanical equipment.
Q: Can you tell us more about the Building Management System?
A: The BMS is a key tool for effective energy management of power electromechanical equipment in buildings. Increasing the efficiency of various equipment helps save energy. By introducing BMS, V Walk has saved over 1.9 million kWh annually, and with other technology, such as the Internet of Things, over 3.7 million kWh of electricity can be saved per year, which is equivalent to the total annual electricity consumption of more than 1,100 three-person households!
Q: BMS has long been used in various buildings in Hong Kong. What is the reason for the outstanding achievement of energy savings in V Walk?
A: Along with the BMS, we introduced Chiller Plant Optimization (CPO), which is advanced technology that uses artificial intelligence to control the operation of Chiller Plants in real time, continuously and automatically without the need to install additional equipment. This helps reduce another 5% electricity use in the air-conditioning system, further saving an additional 300,000 kWh of electricity per year.
Q: That's awesome! Since the Chiller Plant accounts for the largest amount of electricity consumption in buildings, can you tell us more about CPO?
A: The traditional system of Chiller Plant is inflexible in regulating cooling capacity, as it is based on pre-set values. By applying CPO, real-time operational data from the Chiller Plant is received every minute and taking into account the weather (e.g. greater cooling capacity is needed on sunny days than on rainy days), our team uses artificial intelligence to conduct big data analysis. The generated data from cloud computing allows us to set the operation mode of the Chiller Plant to the lowest energy consumption, and operational instructions are sent every hour for the automatic regulation of cooling capacity, thus greatly increasing energy saving's efficiency.
Q: What are the advantages of adopting this advanced technology?
A: The greatest advantage is that the control system of buildings with BMS can be automatically and continuously optimised based on the weather and other factors without the need to install extra equipment. Implementing the most effective operational plan maximises the efficiency of the Chiller Plant, reducing energy consumption and the operating cost. It is also easier for our technicians to conduct a system analysis, ensuring customers a comfortable indoor environment in the mall, and further contributes to environmental protection!
Q: As we all know there is no best, only better, any further energy saving measures to be exercised by the property management team?
A: We shared our CPO performance report with the head office of Kai Shing and attended a meeting with the management teams of various commercial projects to introduce this advanced technology. I believe that society has to work together to achieve the best energy saving results, and more malls will apply this advanced technology in the future!
