SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation's beneficiaries found the New Wing Fund to pass on the spirit of helping others 14.08.2020 Not only does the SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation nurture students, but it also passes on the spirit of helping others to the next generations. A group of Hunan University alumni, who had once been supported by the Foundation, set up the New Wing Fund on their own initiative. The Fund sponsors the new generation of students to provide them with exposure to new experiences and promote the joy of school life. Driven by the SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation and Hunan University, the Fund was officially launched in the 2019 academic year. In just 10 days, the project received donations from 188 alumni who had been supported by the SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation, raising a total of RMB 100,000. The Fund has two directions, one related to innovative entrepreneurship and the other promoting capacity development. The students are encouraged to participate in academic research, develop innovative ideas, and embark on entrepreneurship initiatives. Recently, the Fund completed the first year of assessment and sponsored seven students. The founders of the Fund expect the recipients to enhance their abilities through different learning experiences, thus allowing them to make contributions to society and the country in the future.

Recently, the Group, together with its subsidiaries and projects, was named a Caring Company for the 18th consecutive year by The Hong Kong Council of Social Service. Among the 85 SHKP business units which have earned this recognition, 51 were awarded the honour for the 10th and even 15th year, with businesses ranging from shopping malls and property management to construction and hotels. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, SHKP has continued to help the less fortunate, dedicating its collective efforts to fight the epidemic. In addition to providing subdivided unit households with rent subsidies to alleviate the financial burden on families, SHKP donated about 320,000 surgical masks to the Hospital Authority and various social service organizations. To help shopping mall tenants affected by the pandemic, SHKP has provided rent reductions for several months in a row. The Group has also implemented a series of measures across its malls and offices to fight the pandemic. SHKP will continue to leverage its expertise and resources as a responsible corporate citizen while Building Homes with Heart and creating long-term value for society.

SHKP Volunteer Team back in action to spread care across the community 26.06.2020 Play/Pause Stop Mute/Unmute Vol+ Vol- Fullscreen As the epidemic in Hong Kong has receded in recent months, the SHKP Volunteer Team has been back in action visiting and supporting the underprivileged in the community. Even though everyone was wearing a mask, the volunteers communicated their sincere care to the community and the beneficiaries. Joyful Family Connection move-in support programme The SHKP Volunteer Team recently worked with the Social Welfare Department and Yang Memorial Methodist Social Service to support the move-in of Fu Fai House residents in Fu Shan Estate. They provided elderly residents, residents with disabilities and single-parent families with services including pre-move-in checks, flooring and CFL installation. The volunteers made use of their professional skills to do the pre-move-in checks and basic renovation for the beneficiary families. They also passed on their relevant experience, knowledge and techniques by publishing and distributing a pre-move-in check list and renovation guide. After training and assessment, they became SHKP’s community volunteer partners, who help establish stronger, more sustainable mutual community neighbourhood support, passing on SHKP’s spirit of volunteerism. Although there were still a few coronavirus cases in the city and despite the prohibition on group gatherings, along with typhoon signal no. 3, the volunteers were determined to serve the community and still attended the training day. To ensure everyone’s well-being, all participants were required to have their body temperature taken and fill out a health declaration form. Each training room was equipped with hand sanitizers and surgical masks, and only a limited number of people were allowed at a time, for peace of mind. Spreading love during the Dragon Boat Festival The Building Homes with Heart Caring Initiative volunteers recently visited 1,500 elderly singletons and couples who reside in Sham Shui Po and Tuen Mun, giving them blessings and lucky gift bags to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival. The thoughtful gift bags from SHKP were filled with festive rice dumplings, other types of food and anti-pandemic items for their enjoyment and use during the festival.

Sports for Health – Exercise at home to stay healthy and fight the virus 29.04.2020 As we go out less often during the current coronavirus pandemic, it is important to exercise more at home to avoid gaining weight while strengthening our immunity and staying healthy. To promote this, SHKP produced a series of videos on the Facebook pages of SHKP VERTICAL RUN FOR CHARITY and SHKP Cycling to demonstrate different exercises that can be done easily at home. Videos on duo workouts and parent-child workouts are now available on the two Facebook pages and the 'SHKP Sports for Charity' YouTube channel. Watch the demos and work out at home! SHKP Reading Club launches new online campaign on 'Read For More' to encourage reading and creativity among students 15.04.2020 A good piece of writing not only strikes a chord with readers, it also sparks creativity. The SHKP Reading Club launched a special online campaign, titled 'Read at Home with You', to motivate students to read more and exercise their creativity during the school suspension period. It will produce six series of 'Click to Read' with themed articles catering to the schools participating in the Read & Share programme, and recruit their students as contributors. Participants can creatively adapt the designated themes to craft their own works in the form of an article, video clip, or audio clip of book excerpts. SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation honoured with 'The Partnership of Excellence for 2019' by the Ministry of Education 05.03.2020 Since its establishment nearly two decades ago, the SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation (the Foundation) has endeavoured to give back to society. It supports education and training, and poverty alleviation and health care, etc. The Foundation has recently been awarded 'The Partnership of Excellence for 2019' by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in recognition of its dedication to education work. Over the years, the Foundation has supported talented students in their studies and promoted education across the country. It has been working closely with MOE, in which the Foundation has offered scholarship programmes at primary schools, secondary schools and universities; organized overseas exchange programmes; and held a series of talent training courses. The Foundation has initiated and sponsored more than 60 projects, benefitting people from over 20 provinces and cities across the country. Close to 9,000 beneficiaries have since completed their undergraduate studies.

SHKP staff take part in The Community Chest Corporate Challenge 18.02.2020 Long-distance running trains the body as well as the mind. SHKP has promoted exercise for good in recent years. To this end, the company sponsors our colleagues to participate in different charity sport events, including The Community Chest Corporate Challenge, held in January. This year, about 300 SHKP colleagues took part in the Half Marathon and 10km Run categories. All participants gave their best.
