SHKP athletes triumph in the Race to Shanghai IFC 05.11.2019 The SHKP team wins the Team / Corporate Relay category of the SHKP Vertical Run for Charity – Race to Shanghai IFC With elite athletes from around the globe, the SHKP Vertical Run for Charity – Race to Shanghai IFC featured fierce competitions. The SHKP team won the Team / Corporate Relay category. The SHKPNews team and Florence Ip from the Internal Affairs Department interviewed the winners at the end of the heated race. A recap of the SHKP team's winning moments The company formed a strong team for the race, comprising Bruno To, Leo Kwan and Ming Chan from the Construction team, and Sunny Kwok from SmarTone. This year's strong field led to intense competition. In the first leg, Sunny quickly recovered first place after a brief lag. On the second leg, Bruno mustered all his energy, but passed the baton with only a one-second advantage. On the third leg, Leo slipped after the first curve, but ran through the pain and kept up with other teams. On the last leg, Ming put on a splendid performance, taking and holding the lead on the last two floors of the race! It was an intense competition, and the team was ecstatic about the win!

Convert calories burned into donations at the SHKP Sports for Charity Carnival 23.10.2019 It is said that when we exercise, our body releases endorphin, which makes us happy. The company recently held the SHKP Sports for Charity Carnival at the Hong Kong Velodrome, allowing SHKP colleagues and over a thousand members of the public to have fun exercising together. The company turned the calories burned by the participants that day into donations to support charity projects for children and young people. There were 16 interesting sports activities at the event, including a virtual cycling world championship, an experiential game of vertical running and the SHKP Cycling Academy 4km ride challenge, enjoyed by SHKP colleagues and members of the public of all ages. The organizer also invited about 200 people, including children, young people and their families who are beneficiaries of different charity organizations, to participate in the event and compete for prizes. With the sports-for-charity theme, SHKP transformed the roughly 60,000 calories burned by all participants that day into donations of about HK$3 million to help children and young people in need. There were also a number of exciting races at the carnival, such as a balance bike competition with over 200 child participants, a track cycling race for young athletes, and a joint-school stationary bike race with 16 secondary school teams competing. Sports stars Wong Kam-po and Chan Ka-ho shared their inspiring stories at the event. A video series promoting the sports-for-charity spirit and positive energy through sports has been rolled out in parallel. SHKP volunteers spread love at Mid-Autumn 04.10.2019 Devoted to caring for society, the Building Homes with Heart Caring Initiative recently visited grassroots families living in Sham Shui Po and Sha Tin during the Mid-Autumn Festival to spread love and blessings. The volunteers also visited young children with special needs and their parents and carers to celebrate the festival with them and distribute mooncakes and stationery. The 'Race to Shanghai IFC' and 'Race to Hong Kong ICC' will be held on 20 October and 1 December, respectively. If you are interested in competing in the event, register and get ready early to participate in the spirit of exercising for good. Unleash your potential The 'Race to Hong Kong ICC' continues to serve as the Vertical World Circuit Grand Finale. The race features Elite, Individual and Team Relay categories, as well as Fun Climb events to allow people of all levels to experience the fun of vertical running. Participants in the Fun Climb events can choose between running up 21 or 82 floors (Fun Climb 21 or 82), in which Fun Climb 21 is even open to those aged 10 or above. Benefiting tens of thousands of people through exercising for good The event has raised over HK$45 million in donations over the years, benefitting tens of thousands of underprivileged children and young people. Together with an additional donation from SHKP, all of the proceeds raised from this year's 'Race to Hong Kong ICC', without deducting any cost, will go to The Hong Kong Council of Social Service's SHKP Rainbow with KIDS Programme and the Community Chest of Hong Kong in support of services for disadvantaged children and young people. Proceeds from the 'Race to Shanghai IFC' will be donated to the Shanghai Children's Health Foundation to help provide treatment for child patients from underprivileged families. In the coming months, SHKP will roll out a series of exciting community programmes and training workshops. SHKP Reading Club's Read & Share programme organizes an award presentation ceremony 27.09.2019 The SHKP Reading Club promotes the joy of reading in primary and secondary schools through its Read & Share programme. An award presentation ceremony was held recently to acknowledge the efforts of the participating schools, teachers and students. This year, 71 teachers and students received the Outstanding Performance Awards, and Shek Wu Hui Public School in Sheung Shui won the Most Active Participation Award. The Read & Share programme also organized a writing competition, themed 'My Invention'. The Gold Award in the junior primary category went to Wong Kin-nam, from Hong Kong and Macau Lutheran Church Ming Tao Primary School, and the Gold Award in the senior primary category went to Leung Hang-miu, from Po Leung Kuk Castar Primary School. The SHKP Reading Club has partnered with the Hong Kong Aided Primary School Heads Association (HKAPSHA) to organize the Read & Share programme since 2014. In the past five years, the programme has held 470 interesting activities in 189 primary and secondary schools, creating a joyful reading experience for more than 130,000 teachers and students. During the previous school year, 146 activities were held for about 40,000 teachers and students. In the new school year, the Read & Share programme will return with a brand-new look, spreading the joy of reading to even more students.

Over 180 SHKP colleagues and their families participated. It was a warm and clear day, ideal for running. Wong Wan-chun was the champion in the Men's Senior category, finishing in 30 minutes, 51 seconds, breaking the 15-year male 10K record of Hong Kong. Book search journey at the Book Fair 09.08.2019 Play/Pause Stop Mute/Unmute Vol+ Vol- Fullscreen In the 12th year of the Read to Dream programme, in addition to providing a book-purchasing allowance for the students, the SHKP Reading Club arranged a series of sharing seminars and creative workshops At the Hong Kong Book Fair every year, the SHKP Reading Club sponsors students to visit the fair through the Read to Dream programme. This year, about 1,200 students participated in the event. In addition to free transportation and meals, each student will be given an allowance of $250 to purchase their favourite books, accompanied by SHKP volunteers. So far, the programme has benefited more than 28,000 underprivileged students from Primary 4 to Secondary 3. SHKPNews interviewed two of the volunteers, Kyle and Michelle, as well as Yan-tong and Yee-man from PLK Fong Wong Kam Chuen Primary School in Tuen Mun, who visited the Book Fair together. Sponsoring the children of our staff to study abroad 08.08.2019 Play/Pause Stop Mute/Unmute Vol+ Vol- Fullscreen The company invites participants in the SHKP-AFS Intercultural Exchanges Scholarships Programme this year and the previous year to share their experience Over the past 15 years, the company has sponsored young people to study overseas for one year through the SHKP-AFS Intercultural Exchanges Scholarship Programme. This year, Ho Chun-hei, son of Ho Wing-hung, from the Project Monitoring Department, Cheung Chun-hin, son of Cheung Kim-mo, from Hong Yip, and Wong Ching-yau, daughter of Wong Ka-chiu, from Lik Kai, have been offered scholarships to study in Italy, France and Mexico, respectively, and experience life in a different culture. Anson Chan, son of Evelyn Chan, from Hong Yip, received a scholarship from the programme to study in Denmark last year. Now back in Hong Kong from his exchange programme, he talked about his happy memories in the past year during a sharing session, inspiring the three scholarship recipients who are about to kick off their studies abroad.
